2018 Lincoln Navigator vs. Cadillac Escalade Luxury SUV Comparison

Compare the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade near Glendale, WI

The large luxury three-row SUV market takes boldness to enter, especially in a day and age where people seem to be flocking towards compact crossovers. But both Lincoln and Cadillac have managed to not only enter this competitive market but rather, excel with the Lincoln Navigator and Cadillac Escalade, respectively. Both these large SUVs offers plenty of room and luxurious amenities. But beyond that, how do these two vehicles compare? It turns out; these SUVs are very different across a variety of important categories.

Performance

Bigger is better in a large truck, right? Perhaps usually. Most probably, you're looking for a great deal of interior space, a large cargo area, and plenty of capacity if you're searching for a large luxury SUV. But on the performance front, bigger doesn't always mean better - or more powerful. Case in point, the Lincoln Navigator. This Lincoln SUV employs a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 engine that gives it over a thirty horsepower gain over the larger and less efficient 5.2-liter V8 in the Cadillac Escalade. The Lincoln also has a forty pound-foot gain in torque.

Capability and Capacity

How many luxury SUVs can tow an excess of 8,000 pounds, haul up to eight people, and still make plenty of room for cargo? The Cadillac Escalade and Lincoln Navigator can both do all of those things. That having been said, the capacities of these SUVs are quite different, with the Cadillac offering a towing capacity of 8,300 pounds, and the navigator offering a greater capacity of 8,700 pounds. Standard length Lincoln Navigator models offer 19 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, a number which expands to 103 cubic feet with the second and third rows folded. The Escalade can't match this capacity, offering 15.2 cubic feet and 94.2 cubic feet, respectively.

Safety

Both of these large SUVs are built to be safe. The Cadillac offers a variety of active safety features including front and rear parking sensors, a Teen Driver system, and 360-degree parking camera. The Lincoln offers Lincoln MyKey technology, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, plus blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert, giving it a slight edge. Still, either SUV is available with a ton of optional driver assist features.

Connectivity and Infotainment

The Lincoln Navigator offers a modern and innovative Lincoln SYNC® 3 infotainment system boasting a 10-inch touchscreen, six USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, 14-speaker audio system, and more. The Cadillac Escalade offers an 8-inch CUE touchscreen infotainment system that while competent, can't match up to what the Lincoln offers.

Price

Offering more for less or with less is a theme with the new Lincoln Navigator - from the engine to the towing capacity and more, the Lincoln Navigator excels. The same is true for price. While an entry-level Cadillac Escalade costs $73,995, a similarly equipped entry-level Lincoln Navigator runs only $72,000. Proving an excellent value, this Lincoln model strikes an ideal balance between features and price.
